Hugh Wark joined the British Rail as an Engineering Student in 1973 and has spent his whole career in the Rail industry. He graduated from Strathclyde University with an Honours degree in Civil Engineering and became a Chartered Engineer in 1984.
He undertook a number of roles in the BR Civil Engineering department eventually becoming Assistant Area Civil Engineer in Perth responsible for (among other things) the Forth and Tay Rail bridges.
After privatisation he was Senior Contracts Manager for Railtrack Scotland responsible for the new large maintenance Contracts.
After a spell as the Zone Engineering Manager, he joined the West Coast Route Modernisation Project (WCRM) where he was appointed as the Area Director for the WCRM in Scotland.
He is currently Senior Project Manager for Network Rail on the Airdrie - Bathgate Rail Link project.
