Lawrence graduated from Nottingham University in 1985 and is a Chartered Civil Engineer. He worked for consultants Thorburn Colquhoun (now URS) for 14 years on the planning, design and construction of a range of highway schemes, including the A14 M1-A1 link road, before joining the Scottish Executive (now Transport Scotland) in 1999. 

George is the Consultancy Services Manager within Land and Environmental Services with Glasgow City Council.  In this role he is responsible for the Project Management and Design teams which deliver a wide range of roads, public realm, parks, river infrastructure, walking and cycling, and public transport projects and initiatives.

Responsible for managing Transport and Environment within Glasgow City Council. This includes the development of policy, strategy and planning of the Transport and Environment functions and being the client/project sponsor.

Currently Development Director for Glasgow Airport - has been with BAA for 10 years primarilly working within the Capital Delivery arm of the business in their Scottish Airports.
